I have been photographing Cakes for a Cause every year since 2010. The idea for Cakes for a Cause was originated by two Columbus, Ohio wedding planners extraordinaire, Emilie Duncan of
Emilie Duncan Event Planning and Kasey Conyers of Bliss Event Design, who wanted to give back to the community.
Knowing as many bakers as they do, they set about organizing an auction of artisan baked goods, whether fanciful wedding cakes and cupcakes, or cookies and pies - and now including vacation and spa packages, etc. - with all proceeds from the auction going to the benefit of Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Three meals are provided for each dollar raised and, over the years, Cakes for a Cause has raised in excess of 130,000 meals.
I love food - who doesn't? - and I wholeheartedly believe that nobody should go hungry. I'm honored to donate my time and talents to Cakes for a Cause every year!
